1B. Nanostructured Carbon Materials for MEMS/NEMS and Nano-ElectronicsThe purpose of this symposium is to bring together experts from academia, national laboratories, and industries to discuss the latest developments in the synthesis and characterization of nanostructured carbon materials, which are specifically geared towards the development of advanced micro/nanosystems and nanoelectronic devices. The materials of interest include nano-/ultranano-crystalline diamond, carbon nanotubes, and graphene. The exceptional physical, chemical, biomedical, mechanical, electrical, thermal, and optical properties offered by these materials are promising for the development of high-performance MEMS/NEMS and nanoelectronic devices in various technologically important areas. This symposium will include topics covering fundamental studies on synthesis, characterization, and new properties; theoretical and modeling studies to understand structure-property relationship; issues related to fabrication and integration; as well as success stories about the transition of particular technologies from the laboratory to industry. This symposium is expected to provide an excellent platform for scientists and engineers to exchange ideas, foster collaborations, and embark upon new challenges. Symposium topics will include:
• Advances in growth, processing, and characterization (nano/ultrananocrystalline diamond, CNT, and graphene) Invited speakers include:
Reza Abbaschian (Univ. of California, Riverside, USA)
Judith Harrison (U. S. Naval Academy, USA) Best Paper (Oral and Poster) Award: We announce Best Paper (Oral and Poster) award for the presenters presenting in our symposium. Postdoctoral fellows and graduate students presenting in this symposium are eligible to apply by sending an e-mail to the organizers of the symposium. The award consist of US$500 and a certificate for each category and will be presented at the end of the symposium to the well deserving candidate. |
