Owing to the significant impact of aeronautical and aerospace industries worldwide, with their ensuing social and economic implications, inclusion of a symposium within IMRC-2017 to bring together leading academic scientists, technologists, students and industrialists around the world, is paramount. In view of that, this symposium aims at serving as an international and multidisciplinary forum for the discussion of current issues of the science and technology of materials for aeronautical and aerospace applications. Accordingly, contributions are invited that include but are not limited to the following areas: processing and characterization of novel and conventional materials, including metallic alloys, superalloys, ceramics, polymers and composites; study of microstructure and of mechanical, thermal, optical, and electrochemical properties of related materials; design, process modelling and fabrication of materials for aeronautical and aerospace applications; emerging technologies including welding and joining, coating technologies, high temperature surface engineering, non-destructive testing, damage tolerance, and maintenance. A tutorial in non-destructive testing, design and manufacturing of composite materials is planned to be held in conjunction with this symposium.
